About

My Approach

I provide a warm, down-to-earth, collaborative atmosphere and tailor my approach to each individual. Not everyone needs the same thing.

As a trauma-informed therapist, I view the therapy relationship as one of the most important factors in our work together. Safety in this relationship, especially when discussing painful or uncomfortable topics, is essential.

I use a combination of psychodynamic, interpersonal, and attachment-based treatment approaches and utilize mindfulness, trauma-focused, and CBT interventions as appropriate.

Training & Experience

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and received my doctorate (Psy.D.) from Rutgers University- Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. Grounded in the scholar-practitioner model, I use the latest scientific evidence and wisdom of clinical literature to inform and enhance my clinical work. I completed my predoctoral internship with the University of Houston-Clear Lake Counseling Center and my postdoctoral fellowship with renowned psychologist and psychodynamic theorist, Dr. Jeffrey Binder.

Over the past 7 years I have worked in a variety of settings, including university counseling centers, hospitals, and community mental health clinics and have experience doing individual, couples, and group therapy. This breadth of experience allows me to work with people of all different backgrounds.

Prior to beginning my clinical training, I worked in research at Penn State University and the University of Pennsylvania, where we studied the process of psychotherapy, the mind-body connection, and changes in the brain connected with psychosis, depression, and bipolar disorder. All of these experiences have shaped and inform my clinical practice.
